Winter Storm this Wednesday- Thursday 2/16/22-2/17/22

2/14/2022 (Permalink)

Weather sources are stating a potential winter storm for Thursday and stating potential for a wintry mix Wednesday prior to the changeover to snow.

What is certain: There will be rain Wednesday. A strong cold front will move in changing rain to all snow. We will get measurable snow anywhere from 2 to 9 inches.

What is uncertain: When the rain will change over to snow. If there will be a wintry mix. How much sleet and snow. A longer period of wintry mix will increase the ice totals and decrease the snow totals. And if this will turn out to be a winter storm (6+ inches).

One of the major factors in the storm development is still uncertain. Thus, half the models show a lighter snow event. The other half show a heavy snow event.

It’s simply still too early to tell many details yet for when the switch will happen, and how much. Expect the potential for ice, and anywhere between 2 and 9 inches of snow. Keep watch and just be prepared for winter weather.
